Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones you happen upon. L, K and I were driving along Griffith Park Blvd. and saw these little cottages by the side of the road.

It looks like someone lifted them from a Snow White movie and plopped them down in Silverlake. But actually, it turns out that they were built in 1931 and exemplify the Storybook Architecture style that was popular in Los Angeles during the 20s and 30s.

Interestingly, my friends know people who used to live in the very cottage L and K are standing in front of. I had heard about these for years and was excited to stumble upon them.

  1. Hi,
I remember visiting these cottages in the very early 70s, as I was exploring the former site of the old Disney Studios…they were wonderful to see…I am pleased to hear that they still stand…part of the original studio down the street was still there in 1970. The offices that set way back from the street curb were still there at that time(the one that had the studio sign on the roof) these were being used as apartments…Thanks for posting this!
